Usage of funds from 2016 Donations

Total cash donations received for 2016 amounted to $67,787.85.

Since we received more than expected donations, we decided to spread the cheer a little further and acceded to several special requests:

1.  A request by Project Smile Ltd. They requested for $3000 to help defray the cost of the operations for one of their beneficiary – Shehnaz whom suffers from a right upper limb deformity that occurred at the time of her mother’s conception of her. The diagnosis of this is Holt-Oram Syndrome. The donated amount will go into repair of the deformity such that her hand is put back in the normal position.

Please view Shehnaz’s story here- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdvSJQTjD3c&feature=youtu.be

2. Following the delivery of the festive packs on the 22nd of October, we had received requests of help from individuals and families whom required some assistance. Through personal visits to these 4 households, we donated $100 cash each to help them tide over the weeks as all of our festive packs were distributed or redistributed to other beneficiaries.

3. We were also contacted by 3 households whom required mobility devices for their daily needs. Further our visit and enquiries, we realised that they have exhausted all other venues for help and had turned to us for assistance. Following a discussion with the team, we decided to provide them 2 refurbished motorised wheelchairs and manual wheelchair for these 3 special individuals, so that the help will go beyond this festive period.

4. We had also organised a Christmas party for more that 400 Trainees from MINDS and entertained several special request for aid following home visits.

The balance of $692.55 will be carried forward to 2017 outreach efforts.
